Travel runs anticlockwise round the M25 to junction 21, then up the M1 to the Luton spur and Airport Way, roughly 38 miles and about 70 minutes on a reasonable day. The M25 stretch between the M4 and the M1 is the section worth respecting: it carries the Heathrow and Gatwick traffic together, and a bad morning there adds 30 minutes on its own.
