One vehicle, the whole group together
An airport minibus transfer is a
pre-booked, chauffeur-driven vehicle with seven or more seats, sized to your
party and its luggage instead of squeezing everyone into a car. Westway Ride
runs these group vehicles at every London airport under Transport for London
private hire operator licence 73850301.
Capacity comes in three steps.
The Mercedes V-Class seats up to 7 passengers, the Mercedes-Benz
Vito takes 8, and our minibuses carry 16 or more. Luggage
space grows with each step, and the case count often decides the vehicle before
the head count does.
Groups book these vehicles at
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend. Families heading
on holiday, corporate teams, sports clubs, musicians with instruments and
cruise passengers all travel the same way. Every transfer includes meet and
greet in arrivals, live flight tracking, a fixed fare and free child seats.
This page explains why one
vehicle beats several cars, how we match seats to suitcases, which fleet
classes we run and which airports we serve. It then covers the groups we carry,
how fares work, what each booking includes, the three booking steps, and the
questions group organisers ask most.
Airport transfer fares
Includes 60 minutes waiting time and parking. Every fare is fixed before you travel.
One Vehicle, the Whole Group Together
One vehicle keeps a group
together from the arrivals hall to the front door. Three saloons mean three
drivers, three arrival times and three fares to settle. A single people carrier
or minibus replaces all of that with one chauffeur, one meeting point and one
price agreed before you travel.
That difference shows most at
the terminal. Large parties clear passport control and baggage reclaim at
different speeds, and people drift apart in a busy hall. With one name board to
find, nobody wanders off towards the wrong exit. And everyone reaches the
hotel, office or home at the same moment, so the evening doesn't start with
waiting for the second car.
Departures work the same way in
reverse. One collection from one address means the whole party checks in
together, rather than the last car arriving as the bag drop closes. Organisers
also get a single booking reference to share, one driver's details and one live
update if timings shift.
Seats are only half of the
decision, though. The other half sits in the boot.
Matching Seats to Cases
Capacity is two numbers, not
one. A vehicle that seats everyone can still fail if the bags don't fit,
because a full cabin leaves less boot space than the seat count suggests. So we
size every booking against passengers and cases together.
Six passengers with six large
suitcases, for example, belong in a Vito rather than a V-Class. A full minibus
keeps its rear luggage bay separate from the seating, which frees far more room
per traveller. Bulky items need space too: pushchairs, golf bags, skis, cellos
and other instruments. Tell us about them when you book, and the vehicle gets
chosen against the real load.
Weight and shape matter as much
as numbers. Hard-shell cases stack neatly, while soft bags, prams and ski
carriers take awkward space. A group of eight flying home from a fortnight away
will usually carry more than the same group on a two-night city break.
Unsure which fits? Send both
numbers and we'll assign the right one. It's a quicker fix than discovering a
problem at the kerb, and it leads straight to the fleet itself.

Everything you need to know about your airport transfer.
Up to 7 in a Mercedes V-Class, up to 8 in a Vito, and 16 or more in a minibus. Larger parties are covered by running more than one vehicle on the same schedule, so everyone still arrives together.
Roughly one large case per seat in the people carriers, and more in a full minibus where the rear space is separate from the seating. Luggage rather than seats is what usually decides the vehicle, so tell us the case count when you book.
Count passengers and cases separately, then take the larger requirement. Six passengers with six large cases is a Vito rather than a V-Class. If you are unsure, send us both numbers and we will assign the right vehicle rather than leaving you to guess.
Almost always, yes. One vehicle carries one fare rather than three saloons carrying three, and the price is fixed for the whole group before you travel. It also removes the problem of cars arriving at different times.
Yes, on every arrival. Your chauffeur parks, comes into the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with the bags. For a group this matters more than for a single traveller, since there is one clear meeting point rather than people spreading out across the terminal.
The pickup moves with the aircraft at no extra charge. Your driver holds the flight number and follows the live landing time, so a delayed group is still met on arrival rather than being asked to rebook.
Up to 60 minutes from touchdown as standard. Groups usually clear passport control and baggage reclaim more slowly than individuals, so that window exists for exactly this kind of booking.
Yes. The quote is confirmed before you book and covers the whole vehicle, so it does not change with traffic, waiting or the hour you travel. One fare is agreed for the group rather than split at the end of the journey.
Yes, free of charge, and for as many children as you are travelling with. Send us the ages when booking so the correct seats are fitted before the vehicle sets off, since they cannot be added once the driver is on the way.
Yes. Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City and Southend, along with the private terminals. Group vehicles are available at all of them, and the meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal.
Yes. Onward runs to Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Brighton and the cruise ports at Southampton and Dover are regular group bookings, with one driver for the whole journey and the price agreed before departure.
Yes, but tell us in advance. Skis, golf bags, cellos and similar take space that a case count alone does not capture, so the vehicle is sized against them rather than the group discovering the problem at the terminal.
Above 16 passengers, usually yes. Vehicles are then scheduled to arrive and depart together and are booked as one job, so the group is not split across separate bookings with different drivers and different arrival times.
Earlier than a saloon. Bookings open from three hours before pickup, but there are far fewer minibuses than saloons on the road, so larger vehicles and early morning departures fill first. For events, book as soon as the flight times are known.
