Southampton Chauffeur Service

The city works on two clocks. One is the commercial day across the centre, Ocean Village and Southampton Science Park, where the maritime sector, marine engineering firms and two universities keep visitors moving. The other is the sailing calendar, which concentrates demand into turnaround days when several ships change over at once and the dock approaches fill from early morning.

Serving both means knowing the port road network rather than just the postcode. Dock gates open onto different terminals, the signs on the approaches list which ship is at which berth, and a terminal with no ship alongside is simply closed. Guests arriving at Southampton Central are met at the entrance, and pre-dawn embarkations are as routine as late airport returns.

Pricing follows one rule: the fare quoted at reservation is the exact amount you pay, inclusive of VAT, road tolls and applicable parking. That covers the Itchen Bridge toll on journeys crossing to Woolston, and it applies equally at 04:00 on a sailing morning and 18:00 on a Friday.

Cruise work leads the service, and it rewards precision. Southampton has five terminals split across two separate dock areas. Mayflower at Berth 106, Horizon at Berth 102 and City at Berth 101 sit in the Western Docks, entered through Dock Gates 8, 10 or 20. Ocean at Berths 46 and 47 and the QEII at Berths 38 and 39 sit in the Eastern Docks, both entered through Dock Gate 4. Arriving at the wrong dock area is not a short walk to correct; it is a full loop back through city centre traffic at the worst possible hour.

The complication most passengers miss is that cruise lines are not permanently assigned to terminals. P&O sails from both Mayflower and Ocean depending on the itinerary, Cunard usually uses the QEII but not invariably, and assignments can change in the weeks before departure, so an original booking may name one terminal and the final e-ticket another. The berth number on that e-ticket is the only reliable source, and it is the first thing we ask for.
